It was also presented at the Conference, the opening of the 2nd edition of the ‘Iberian Prize on Traditional Architecture Research’. This Iberian Prize is jointly organized since 2010 by the Foundation Convento da Orada (FCO), the Foundation Antonio Font de Bedoya (FAFB), Fundación Cultural del Colegio Oficial de los Arquitectos de Léon (FUNCOAL) and from 2013 on, the Portuguese Architects Association (OA). The high participation of worldwide specialists, academics, national professionals and interested locals raised active debates, which resulted in reflexions that contributed to the definition of new research lines and new areas of interest within the protection, conservation, rehabilitation and knowledge of vernacular heritage and earthen architecture.

It should be mentioned the notorious growth of international interest in disciplinary areas related to vernacular heritage and earthen architecture, and its articulation in a more sustainable contemporary architecture for a more integrated local development.
